The "Preferred Seating" product is designed for passengers who have already purchased tickets for flights operated by China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines. Through designated sales channels of China Eastern Airlines, passengers can use payment or mileage redemption to prioritize the selection of seats in specific areas of the aircraft. After purchasing this product, passengers can choose their preferred seats in advance, enjoying a more comfortable personal space and an enhanced flight experience during their journey.

Applicable Routes and Prices

International and regional routes: Rows 1-6 and emergency exit rows in narrow-body aircraft economy class; Rows 1-9 and emergency exit rows in wide-body aircraft economy class.

Domestic routes: Economy class row 1, emergency exit row seats with extra legroom, and window/aisle seats in rows 2-5.

Note: Due to operational or safety considerations, some seats within the sales area may not be available for passenger selection. The specific seats available for purchase or redemption are subject to system display.

3.Domestic Routes: Only mileage redemption is supported.

Purchase Guide

Passengers who have purchased tickets for applicable routes of the "Preferred Seating" product can purchase this product through the following channels before flight closure (China Eastern Airlines may adjust the deadline as needed): the official China Eastern Airlines website, the China Eastern Airlines app, the China Eastern Airlines mini-program, by calling the China Eastern Airlines customer service center, or by visiting any of China Eastern Airlines' directly-operated sales offices.For passengers traveling on international or regional flights, the "Preferred Seating" product can also be purchased on the day of departure at the China Eastern Airlines check-in counter at the originating airport.Once the product is purchased, passengers will gain priority selection rights for the designated preferred seats.

Product Rules

1. This service applies to adult and child passengers but not infants. 

2. A seat cannot be changed once it has been selected. To select a different seat, you will first need to cancel your current selection, which can be done free of charge, and then make another purchase. Please cancel the seat through the original ticket purchase channel. Refunds can be made within 12 months of the date of purchase (in accordance with the ticket cancellation policy).The preferred seat fee paid by the passenger is not eligible for mileage/point accrual.The preferred seat fee paid by passengers is not eligible for mileage accumulation.

3. Platinum Card Members, children, and passengers holding full-fare Economy Class (Y-class) tickets can redeem the Preferred Seating product on domestic flights at 0 miles.Additionally, Platinum Card Members are eligible for complimentary Preferred Seating on international and regional flights (for their own travel only).

4. A preferred seat that cannot be provided for reasons that are the fault of China Eastern is subject to a full refund, unless on-site check-in staff or cabin staff can arrange seating in an equivalent or higher cabin class. 

5. Passengers who have purchased preferred seats and successfully upgraded to a higher cabin class may request a refund through the original purchase channel. If the upgrade is completed onboard, all upgrade documents must be retained and the refund requested through the original purchase channel after the trip.

6. Passengers who select emergency exit row seats must confirm they comply with the relevant regulations and sign the Notice for Passengers Sitting in Emergency Exit Rows Seats before they will be allowed to purchase the service. On the day of the flight, the airline has the right to refuse to complete flight procedures or to arrange another seat for any passengers found not to be in compliance with the relevant regulations. The airline also reserves the right to arrange another seat for passengers whose non-compliance with regulations is discovered while in the cabin. In the event this occurs, the relevant costs will not be refunded.

7. Passengers who purchase the Preferred Seats service (excluding emergency exit row seats) may handle all check-in procedures via the China Eastern self-service channel. 

8. After check-in opens, some preferred seats will be available for passengers to select free of charge. 

9. China Eastern reserves the right to adjust the range and price of Preferred Seats.
