the Notes for Online Seat Selection

  1. The seat selection service is currently only available for tickets of flights actually operated by China Eastern Airlines (hereinafter referred to as China Eastern) and Shanghai Airlines, and for adults and accompanied children who are flying domestic routes and part of international and regional routes.
  2. The "Preferred Seats" product is designed for passengers who have purchased tickets for flights actually operated by China Eastern or Shanghai Airlines, allowing them to select seats in specific areas of the aircraft first through designated sales channels of China Eastern by payment or mileage redemption. This product is applicable to adult and child passengers, but not to infants.
  3. "Preferred Seats" include member-exclusive seats on domestic routes and paid seats on international and regional routes. Member-exclusive seats will be released as free selectable seats 6 hours before flight departure; paid seats will be released as free selectable seats 2 hours before flight departure (excluding seats in the first row and emergency exit rows). Due to operational or safety considerations, some seats may not be available for passenger selection even after release.
  4. We will do our best to reserve your seat, but it may be subject to change due to security needs or temporary changes in the type of aircraft used. Please note that the seat assignment at boarding is final. We appreciate your understanding.
  5. Once a ticket is refunded or rebooked, the originally reserved seat will be automatically cancelled. Please pay attention to the refund status of your preferred seat. If an automatic refund is not triggered, the passenger must apply for a refund through the original ticket purchase channel.
  6. You can log in to China Eastern Airlines' official website, APP, or WeChat/Alipay mini-programs, and access the "Seat Selection & Check-in" function or "My Orders - Seat Selection Orders" to view or make changes. After check-in, the number of times you can cancel/change your seat online cannot exceed 3. Passengers who exceed this limit must go to the airport counter or contact customer service to request a seat change.
  7. If you are traveling with companions in the same cabin class, you can add them during seat selection to choose adjacent seats or select seats as needed. If your group includes children, it is recommended to select seats for adult passengers first, and then choose appropriate seats for the children. Due to airline safety and special service requirements, not all seats on the aircraft are available for advance selection.
  8. If you would like, we can handle the procedures for you when check-in has opened for your flight (provided the necessary conditions have been met). You will be notified by SMS when your check-in has been completed. Should you choose to check in by yourself, please do so online through China Eastern's official website, app, or mobile website. If the online process is not successful, please check in at the airport counter.
  9. Currently, automatic check-in is only available for domestic flights (excluding interline code-sharing flights and domestic segments of international tickets) and some international flights actually operated by China Eastern Airlines / Shanghai Airlines. Passengers who have selected an emergency exit seat, requested certain special services, unaccompanied minors, and passengers with infants are temporarily unable to use self-service or automatic check-in. Please proceed to the airport manual counter to complete check-in procedures. Inability to check in online will affect the activation of upgrade products such as Platinum Card upgrades and pre-reserved forward seating.
  10. Platinum Card members, children, and passengers who have purchased full-fare Y-class (economy) tickets can redeem domestic preferred seats with 0 miles. Platinum Card members can also select international and regional preferred seats for free (for themselves only).
  11. Preferred Seats service is available for online purchase before the flight closes. (China Eastern may make adjustments based on actual conditions.) For specific applicable routes, sales areas, sales time limits and prices, please refer to China Eastern's website or other official channels.
  12. The Preferred Seats service does not currently permit rescheduling. To make changes, first cancel your booking (free of charge) and repurchase. Please apply for a refund via the original channel through which the service was purchased. Refunds are available within 12 months of the date of purchase.
  13. If, due to the fault of China Eastern (including, but not limited to: flight cancelation, delay or involuntary rescheduling, aircraft type change, overbooking or requisition), the paid seat(s) cannot be guaranteed for a passenger but on-site check-in staff are able to arrange an equivalent seat/seats or a seat/seats in the upper class cabin, the relevant costs will not be refunded.
  14. Passengers who have purchased preferred seat products and successfully upgraded to a higher cabin class should promptly request a refund through the original purchase channel. If the upgrade is completed onboard, all upgrade documents must be retained, and the refund should be requested through the original purchase channel after the trip.
  15. China Eastern reserves the right to adjust the seat selection range on all aircraft and the price of the Preferred Seats.
