Passengers Requiring Oxygen

I. Who we serve:

We are committed to providing the necessary services to passengers requiring medical oxygen while taking the flight.

II. Applicable Routes:

The service is only applicable to direct flights operated by China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines with China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines flight numbers.

Note: Please go to Homepage > Announcements > Travel Tips > Airport Information to check whether this service is available at the departure and arrival airports.

IV. Time Limit for Acceptance (before takeoff):

For domestic flights: 48 hours in advance

For international (regional) flights: 72 hours in advance

V. Application Submission Materials:

1. Application for Special Passengers

2. China Eastern Airlines Risk Notification Confirmation

3. Certificate of Diagnosis

VI. Materials to Be Carried on Board (printed):

1. Application for Special Passengers (in duplicate)

2. China Eastern Airlines Risk Notification Confirmation (in duplicate)

3. Original Certificate of Diagnosis

VII. The Certificate of Diagnosis must be:

1. Issued by a doctor from a Level II A hospital or higher (including Level II A hospitals in China and equivalent clinics, medical centers, and hospitals abroad) and stamped with the official seal of the medical institution;

2. Issued and signed by a doctor, if the doctor works in an overseas hospital or clinic.

3. In addition to another certificate of diagnosis issued within 48 hours before the flight is scheduled to take off.

4. Passengers requiring the use of oxygen must provide a separate medical certificate issued by a qualified doctor, bearing without being limited to the following information:

1) Fitness to fly based on the passenger's physical conditions and a statement that the use of oxygen will not cause or contribute to any physical harm;

2) Whether continuous oxygen supply is required and the oxygen flow rate;

3) The signature of the registered physician issuing the certificate.

VIII. Check-in Deadline:

120 minutes prior to departure

IX. Other Requirements:

1. The price of the oxygen service is CNY 300 per cylinder and free for passengers requiring a stretcher or passengers with disabilities who have reserved an in-flight medical oxygen device.

2. Passengers requiring the use of oxygen must be accompanied by at least one medical assistant or adult passenger, who must present an identity document and proof of occupation.

X. Reminders:

1. Passengers requiring the use of oxygen must use the oxygen devices provided by us and are prohibited from carrying any device for oxygen storage, generation, or distribution on board.

2. Passengers requiring an ambulance are asked to contact the relevant departments (such as airport emergency centers) themselves at their own expense.

3. China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines will confirm the application for the flight departure date and contact the applicant (09:00-19:00). Please keep your phone available after making the application. We will reach out to you as soon as possible. If you do not receive a confirmation call or text message from China Eastern Airlines within 4 hours of submitting your application (during working hours), it may indicate that your application failed to be submitted due to network errors or system delays. Please try again or call 95530.

4. Once your application has been submitted online, China Eastern Airlines will be deemed to have received it, though it will still be subject to approval. Your requested flight may be limited by capacity, lack of available seats, or insufficient airport support. In this case, we will contact you to provide you with other options for flight or date. The success of your application is subject to our final approval.
