Information for Pregnant Passengers

I. Who we serve:

We are committed to providing attentive services to pregnant passengers requiring special care and to make the journeys of mothers-to-be as comfortable as possible.

II. Applicable Routes:

1. The service is only applicable to flights operated by China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines with China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines flight numbers.

2. The following conditions must be met for connecting flights:

(a) The actual carriers throughout the journey are China Eastern Airlines (MU) and Shanghai Airlines (FM) and the transfer takes place on the same day;

(b) The connecting flight consists of only two flight segments;

(c) The transfer takes place at a major hub terminal (Pudong, Hongqiao, Kunming, Xi'an), and the minimum connection time is not shorter than the transfer time limit of any airport.

IV. Application Submission Materials:

1. Passengers 32 weeks pregnant will need to provide the following materials:

1) Continuous pregnancy clinical history or maternity healthcare handbook (recorded and kept by the hospital) stamped by the hospital (copy);

2) Gestation certificate signed and stamped by their doctor, B-ultrasound reports, and other inspection documents or electronic reports issued by the hospital.

2. Passengers 32 to 36 weeks pregnant will need to provide the following materials:

1) Certificate of Diagnosis;

2) Continuous pregnancy clinical history or maternity healthcare handbook (recorded and kept by the hospital) stamped by the hospital (copy).

V. Materials to Be Carried on Board (printed):

1. Passengers 32 weeks pregnant will need to provide the following materials:

1) Continuous pregnancy clinical history or maternity healthcare handbook (recorded and kept by the hospital) stamped by the hospital (copy);

2) Gestation certificate signed and stamped by their doctor, B-ultrasound reports, and other inspection documents or electronic reports issued by the hospital.

2. Passengers 32 to 36 weeks pregnant will need to provide the following materials:

1) Certificate of Diagnosis (original);

2) Continuous pregnancy clinical history or maternity healthcare handbook (recorded and kept by the hospital) stamped by the hospital (copy).

VI. Requirements for the Certificate of Diagnosis:

Passengers 32 (inclusive) to 36 weeks pregnant during the intended flight must provide a certificate of diagnosis (in duplicate) stamped by the hospital and signed by their doctor within 72 hours before boarding. The Certificate of Diagnosis must include the passenger name, age, gestation period, estimated date of delivery (EDD), flight route and date, fitness to fly, and special care required in flight.

120 minutes prior to departure

VIII. Other Requirements:

For the safety of you and your fetus, we recommend that you choose another way to travel if:

(1) You are 36 or more weeks pregnant when boarding the flight;

(2) Your EDD is within 4 weeks (inclusive) of the flight;

(3) You are at risk of a preterm delivery;

(4) You are carrying more than one baby or at risk of labor complications, and your EDD is approaching but cannot be determined;

(5) Less than one week has passed since giving birth.

IX. Reminders:

1. China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines will confirm the application for the flight departure date and contact the applicant (09:00-19:00). Please keep your phone available after making the application. We will reach out to you as soon as possible. If you do not receive a confirmation call or text message from China Eastern Airlines within 4 hours of submitting your application (during working hours), it may indicate that your application failed to be submitted due to network errors or system delays. Please try again or call 95530.

2. Once your application has been submitted online, China Eastern Airlines will be deemed to have received it, though it will still be subject to approval. Your requested flight may be limited by capacity, lack of available seats, or insufficient airport support. In this case, we will contact you to provide you with other options for flight or date. The success of your application is subject to our final approval.
