Information for Passengers Requiring Portable Oxygen Concentrators

I. Who we serve:

We are committed to providing the necessary services to passengers requiring portable oxygen concentrators on flights.

II. Applicable Routes:

The service is only applicable to direct flights operated by China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines with China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines flight numbers.

Note: Please go to Homepage > Announcements > Travel Tips > Airport Information to check whether this service is available at the departure and arrival airports.

IV. Time Limit for Acceptance (before takeoff):

For domestic flights: 48 hours in advance

For international (regional) flights: 48 hours in advance

V. Application Submission Materials:

1. Notice to Passengers Requiring Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs) on Board

2. China Eastern Airlines Risk Notification Confirmation

3. Certificate of Diagnosis

VI. Materials to Be Carried on Board (printed):

1. Notice to Passengers Requiring Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs) on Board (in duplicate)

2. China Eastern Airlines Risk Notification Confirmation (in duplicate)

3. Original Certificate of Diagnosis

VII. The Certificate of Diagnosis must be:

1. Issued by a doctor from a Level II A hospital or higher (including Level II A hospitals in China and equivalent clinics, medical centers, and hospitals abroad) and stamped with the official seal of the medical institution;

2. Issued and signed by a doctor, if the doctor works in an overseas hospital or clinic.

3. In addition to another certificate of diagnosis issued within 10 days before the flight is scheduled to take off (excluding the day of takeoff), proving that the passenger requires POC and is fit to fly.

(1) Portable oxygen concentrator (hereinafter referred to as the POC):

The POC is a device that employs molecular sieve technology to separate oxygen from air and provide oxygen to users. This device is not equipped with pressure storage components, and the distribution mechanism neither produces pressure nor independently generates oxygen. It is not a device used to store, generate, or distribute oxygen, and it is not dangerous for air transport.

(2) China Eastern accepts only FAA-certified POC equipment listings. The FAA has conducted electronic equipment interference testing and certification for the products of certain manufacturers, labeling them and providing a certification list with the following statement in red letters: The manufacturer of this POC has verified that the device conforms to all applicable FAA acceptance criteria for POC carriage and use on board aircraft.

2. The batteries you carry on board must comply with our lithium battery transportation regulations concerning battery capacity, quantity, and packaging.

3. Passengers requiring POCs during the entire flight are prohibited from sitting in exit rows.

X. Reminders:

1. Passengers who plan to use POCs on board must provide a medical certificate in compliance with the relevant provisions.

2. Should the captain have reason to believe that the use of the POC you are carrying will affect the normal operation of the plane, you will be required to turn off the device immediately.

3. The batteries you bring should be sufficient for the entire voyage (including stopovers, transfers, and transit time) plus 3 hours.

4. Considering the limited number of passenger aircraft with seat power supplies and no guarantee on availability of supplies, China Eastern Airlines cannot ensure access to onboard power supplies.

5. The Company assumes no responsibility for the operation of the POC you bring with you or the availability of the equipment.

6. Should you fail to complete the application in time or in the event the device has not been certified by the US FAA, you will be prohibited from using the device when the aircraft is taxiing, taking off, descending, or landing and sitting in an exit row.

7. China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines will confirm the application for the flight departure date and contact the applicant (09:00-19:00). Please keep your phone available after making the application. We will reach out to you as soon as possible. If you do not receive a confirmation call or text message from China Eastern Airlines within 4 hours of submitting your application (during working hours), it may indicate that your application failed to be submitted due to network errors or system delays. Please try again or call 95530.

8. Once your application has been submitted online, China Eastern Airlines will be deemed to have received it, though it will still be subject to approval. Your requested flight may be limited by capacity, lack of available seats, or insufficient airport support. In this case, we will contact you to provide you with other options for flight or date. The success of your application is subject to our final approval.
